THE TWO TYPES OF DISTILLATES

Since the foundation of fieruaas distillery and fjäre we have taken our time to experiment & perfect our recipes of various types of spirit.
Below we have composed a selection of recipes for your choosing as a future cask owner. Our offerings include:
1. Non-Smoky New Make Whisky Recipe: Crafted from the finest barley, our non-smoky new make whisky recipe showcases the pure essence of our locally farmed grain and the methods surrounding it.
2. Smoky New Make Recipe: Using carefully selected malted barley smoked in different degrees depending on your wishes. The distinctive, alternatively subtle but pleasant smokiness gives the distillate both complexity and a bold, robust flavor profile.

 

The Four Types of Casks

As a cask owner you choose from our carefully curated selection of cask types, each contributing distinct characteristics to the spirits they house. Our offerings include:
1. Swedish Oak Casks: Imparting a unique profile with hints of spice and a subtle sweetness derived from the exceptional Swedish oak.
2. American Bourbon Casks: Infusing our spirits with the rich, caramel and vanilla notes synonymous with traditional American bourbon casks.
3. Oloroso Sherry Casks: Adding layers of complexity with the influence of Oloroso sherry, resulting in elegant and nuanced flavor profiles.
4. Rum Casks: Conveying tropical and exotic notes, the rum casks lend a delightful hint of sweetness and warmth to our spirits.

 

The loan

Since the current Swedish legislation does not permit us to sell alcoholic beverages directly to consumers (at least for now), the distillate part of our cask ownership offering has to be composed as a loan to us that is fully repaid upon having your spirit bottled and collected through one of our alternatives described in the “Payment & the collection of the bottles”-section below.

What will the bottles cost?

The spirit in the cask evaporates approximately 3-4% annually, which may come to affect the final output of the casks. In this example we calculated with 54% Alc/vol & 68 bottles after 4 years of maturation:

  • Sweden – 653 SEK/bottle Incl. VAT
  • Denmark – Coming soon
  • Germany – Coming soon

The price includes the initial cost of the cask, bottled whisky, pickup costs, taxes & VAT. In total approx. 44 404 SEK per cask, including the final repayment of the initial loan.

Taxes

The following alcohol taxes for one litre of 100% alc/vol apply for:

  • Sweden - 526,97 SEK/Litre
  • Denmark - 150 DKK/Litre
  • Germany - 13,03 EUR/Litre

The VAT-rates are the following:

  • Sweden - 25%
  • Denmark - 25%
  • Germany - 19%

Pickup-location alternatives

  • Sweden - Systembolaget's private-imports. Markup amounts to 14,7% of the purchasing price in addition to a fixed markup of 6,37 SEK.
